…are my favorite. If I could do my wedding over again I would forgo the (sort of) guaranteed late summer sunshine, pick an indoor venue and have this bridal bouquet…
Thanks to the lovely Stephanie Cristalli for the sneak peek from today’s shoot. More to come…
The Seattle weather may still be a little dreary but it’s definitely spring in the world of flowers and we’re celebrating the annual arrival of our floral favorites at the flower market with a new look. Over the past few months I have been collaborating with some of my favorite people on new branding, a new website, new business cards and a redesigned office! While you’ll have to wait another month or so to see the new website and images from my oh so glamorous office (think gold, elephant skin grey and blue), I’m super excited to share my gorgeous new business cards.

Ta da! Designed by my wonderful friend and talented designer Iwona Konarski, they are about as dreamy as can be with pearlescent foil and subtle taupe letterpress. I have been collaborating with Iwona for years and at this point she knows my style inside out. She also designed my logo all those years ago.

I got to accompany Iwona to Evolution Press in Ballard to watch the printing in action and make the final tweaks to the colors. The foil was printed on one press and then the cards were transferred over to another one for the letterpress. It’s very difficult to capture just how lovely the foil is with my camera but it catches the light and reflects whatever is nearby. The Evolution team did an amazing job. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

And speaking of spring, here are some flowers I did recently to celebrate the life of my grandmother. She was an accomplished floral designer herself and such an inspiration to me. I miss her every day. Thank you to everyone who posted lovely messages on our Facebook page. Your kind words meant so much. x

All the way back in July, Bryce Covey and I ventured out to Sequim on Washington’s Olympic Peninsular to create a styled shoot inspired by Sequim’s beautiful lavender fields. Today that shoot is featured on Once Wed and I am so honored to see some of my work alongside the illustrious stylist Joy Thigpen’s!

I wanted to keep the décor soft and simple to complement and not distract from the stunning setting of the lavender farm so I chose a color palette of sage green, white, lilac and a faded orange. To decorate the beautiful rustic cake table I created a floral runner with a garland of seeded eucalyptus and worked in purple scabiosa, garden roses, sweet peas and lavender to add some color. I added antique English vinegar bottles and vintage lavender glass from my personal collection for texture and height and draped the runner into a Provencale market basket.

I created several bridal bouquets for this shoot. Simple single arrangements of lavender and creeping oregano kept the look very simple and elegant and would be a perfect choice for bridesmaids or flower girls, whereas the bride’s bouquet was an organic mix of cream and faded orange garden roses, papery soft lilac scabiosa, sage, lavender and creeping oregano with purple nepeta (or catmint) and astilbe from my own garden. Some salmon berry leaves and seeded eucalyptus added texture.

The sweet lavender-lemon vegan cake by Kerissa Bakes was garnished simply with stems of fresh lavender on top of the rough white buttercream icing and displayed on a scalloped white cake platter from Rosanna.

Genevieve and Derek’s wedding took place at the Kubota Gardens and was followed with a reception at Urban Light Studios. The color palette was grey, sage green, white and a pale peachy-orange and I used fresh artichokes in the arrangements. Derek and Genevieve are both actors in LA and wanted a fun, lively wedding with no formal sit down dinner or stuffy traditions. Genevieve’s mother made her beautiful dress and Derek wore a grey pinstripe suit while the bridesmaids wore long sage colored dresses.

For the ceremony we created loose bunches of eucalyptus, garden roses and artichokes that we tied to the chairs with twine and lace. The bridal bouquets were organic hand tied bouquets of sage greenery, herbs, garden roses and dahlias bound with taupe silk ribbon.

We accented the crazy decor inside Urban Light Studios with fresh, airy arrangements in vintage milk glass vessels. Jenny Jimenez took all these gorgeous photos and Megan Keller of A Kurant Event worked with the couple on planning and day-of coordination.

I have known Alissa for many years. I used to work with her catering company Gourmondo during my time at the Symphony and I have always admired her success as an entrepreneur and businesswoman. So when she called to tell me she was getting married and wanted me to both plan and design it, I was thrilled. The only downside – she and her fiance Alan wanted to get married within six weeks and on a date when we were already booked. A few calls were made, a few strings were pulled and the date was changed. The planning began…
Alan and Alissa’s wedding took place in the garden and inside their Bainbridge Island home. It was a second marriage for both the bride and groom so they wanted a beautiful, sophisticated affair but without a lot of the usual wedding traditions – no cake, no first dance, no speeches. Seattle based wedding photographer Julie Harmsen took all of these beautiful pictures.

We decided on a Tuscan theme with an olive branch monogram that I worked with Sally Balt at LaHappy to design and I then used fresh olive and Italian herbs in all of the floral arrangements.

Only immediate family attended the ceremony presided over by the groom’s brother and the rest of the guests arrived for the reception to be greeted by Veraci’s wood fired pizza oven in the driveway and a beautiful candlelit tent in the back garden where Alissa’s uncle’s jazz band serenaded the guests.

We styled a cigar and whiskey bar as a surprise for the groom and used the home’s existing English pub (!) for one of the two bars. After a traditional Italian meal provided by Gourmondo there was a dessert buffet of cannolis and miniature tiramisu and guests were invited to take home bouquets of flowers in vintage olive oil cans from the Bainbridge Farmers Market.

Yesterday I shared our super glam, sexy pink, gold and black holiday tabletop but perhaps you prefer the more natural, organic look? Featuring cork placemats and confetti, illustrated black and white plates, metallic linen napkins, mercury glass, metallic twine and spruce, this more rustic but still elegant look should appeal. The best part? All of the pieces are available to purchase right now online and in stores. Look for the source list after the images. Thanks again to La Happy for the stationery and adorable Christmas tree stamped cork confetti and Kate Price for the lovely images. Wishing you peace and joy for the New Year! See you in 2013.

With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, we decided to put together a little tabletop inspiration shoot for those of you planning to celebrate at home this year. I decided on two different looks – the first, a hollywood glam look in gold, black and pink; the second, a more natural look in cork, spruce and silver. My sweet friend Sally of La Happy created the paper goods and stunning calligraphy and the lovely Kate Price took these images. Check back tomorrow for the natural tabletop look!
